Life AIs project

Life AIs Project

The project Life AIs (Project 101074540 — LIFE21-ENV-ES-Life-AIs) has received support from the prestigious LIFE environmental program of the European Union. This consortium brings together two leading technology providers, Fede—the project leader—and Agerpix, along with three major producers: Canena Castle, Fournier Domain González Byass Wine Family winery and Agroptimum.

Objectives

In the Life-AIs project, Faith, join forces with Agerpix, Digital agronomic services provider specialized in data processing and predictive models, to “see” crops through the image capture with 3D cameras and perform their AI processingThe accuracy of the data generated from valuable visual information allows for monitoring the status of plantations and performing highly precise treatments and field tasks.

The cameras allow to obtain a forecast of the harvest y detect diseases. All this valuable information facilitates high-precision plantation management based on visual information with excellent level of detail and temporal resolution which will translate into significant environmental and economic benefits for agricultural businesses.

Life AIs Project. Agróptimum Project.

The Life - AIs project will allow treating only the affected parts of the crop, saving pesticides and fungicides.

Alignment of the Life AIs project with environmental policies

It is estimated that, during the 54 months of the project duration, Life-AIs will achieve a reduction of 604 tons of greenhouse gasesThis figure will multiply, reaching a decrease of 3.225 tons per year when the technology is implemented on approximately 97.437 hectares. These reductions translate into direct savings for farmers:

👉 43% in phytosanitary products

👉 20% in fertilizers

👉 31% in fuel

👉 13% in electricity

These environmental achievements demonstrate the project's full compliance with the objectives set by the strategy. Farm‐to‐Fork of the EU Green Deal.

Life AIs project field trials and tests

The Life AIs consortium is committed to demonstrating the reduction in emissions and savings that this innovation represents in plantations vineyard, olive grove and pistachios in Spain. To this end, trials will be carried out on 150 hectares of crops belonging to the plantations of Domino Fournier (vineyard of the DO Ribera del Duero, Spain), Canena Castle (olive grove, Spain) and Agróptimum (pistachio, Spain).

Agróptimum makes its sustainable bioinnovation space, Casa del Olmo, available to the project.

How much can the Life AIs project save farmers?

The Life AIs project trials, which will be carried out thanks to the support of the European Union's "LIFE" research program, will demonstrate how this digital agronomic solution significantly reduces the environmental impact of agriculture in the high-value crop sector, taking care of a production of quality fruits, increasing the farmers' profitability and helping to improve society's agri-food security.

These environmental achievements demonstrate the full correspondence of Life-AIs with the objectives set by the strategy. Farm‐to‐Fork of the EU Green Deal.

With the contribution of the European Union's LIFE Programme, the EU's funding instrument for the environment and climate action, under grant agreement Project 101074540 — LIFE21-ENV-ES-Life-AIs.
